Grammy Day!

(image found here)

Hi, my name is Christy and I'm a Kings Of Leon superfan.  It could be an addiction and I'm not afraid to admit it.  Oh, and can I mention that I do, indeed, prefer their older albums to their newest.

In a perfect world, they would take home 4 Grammy's tonight, but I know this world's just not fair and they're up against Taylor Swift, whom I also love (just not near as much), for a couple of categories.  Either way, I'll be watching the Grammy's with my BFF and we'll both be hoping to get a glimpse of those Followill boys all dressed up, and their lady loves as well.  I love music and I love the Grammy's and I can't wait to see who all wins.  ::Fingers crossed::

Classic Coffee & Tea

These lovely finds were in my daily ideeli.com sale email : :

Yedi Houseware makes these cute and quirky pieces, plus lots of others.  They are on sale right now for up to 62% off, yeah, that polka dot teapot, only $17!  If you're not an ideeli member, click here for my invite link and sign up.

In unrelated news, it a winter storm outside and all I see is white.  Snow, that is, and I'm just not a fan of snow.  The roads are covered and traffic's a creeping.  The good news is, I'm off work tomorrow and have no where to be.  I can just cuddle up, be lazy and not feel guilty about it!

Reminders Never Hurt

A couple of weeks ago I was going through a ::semi:: hard time, but this week has been awesome and I'm so thankful for that!  I woke up Sunday with a new perspective and I've really kept it up so far, however, today I've almost let myself slip up.  That's where my reminders are coming in!  For me and you, too :)

-Never want to be with someone who doesn't want to be with you.
-Never settle.
-You deserve something great, hold out for that.

And that is the end of that...So, the new perspective I just mentioned above includes getting myself busy with all kinds of new activities and I'm super excited!  I have:

-Signed up for a 4 week yoga class.
-Signed up for a decorating class.
-Talked my girlfriends into scrapbooking and we're going to meet once a month to do so.
-My BFF invited me to go to the Smokey Mountains with her and her family the first of March.

I think that's the just of it for now.  I'm also taking a vacation week from work the first week of March and absolutely can't wait to get some stuff accomplished!  There's so much stuff to get out and do.  There's no reason to sit at home and mope!

Fill In The Blank Cards

I think these fill in the blank cards are such a cute idea and not to mention designed so pretty!

What's In Your Bag?

I love this group on Flickr!  What's In Your Bag?  It is what it sounds like, pictures of girl's bags and the contents creatively laid out.  I want to do one of my own.  I'll put that on my never ending I-want-to-do list.  Here's my favorite picture from the group so far:

I think the wood in the background against the brown purse and colorful contents is soo pretty!

Dear John

4.  Read more.  Pretty self explanatory.  I just finished Dear John and reeeally like it.  I must admit I only read it because I saw the movie was coming out and wanted to read it before I saw it.  It was a lot different that I expected it to be.  It was a good depiction of how easily love is found and also how easily it slips away...or maybe doesn't slip away, just get pushed aside.  I can't wait to see the movie.  I'm guessing there'll be a lot of tears from me.

Inspired

Today was the first really great day I've had in a few weeks now.  I woke up feeling like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders, something I won't get into here, but it was the best feeling.  I also went to church and got so much good out of it.  I'm really inspired to start living life and I'm very excited about it.  I also stopped by Target on the way home and got a new journal so I can make good out of my #1 from below and a planner since it's almost February and I never bought one for this year.

Now it's off to watch the Colts make their way to the Super Bowl, but first here's my favorite find of the day:

Anderson Cooper in Haiti

Regretfully, I admit that I have allowed things going on in my personal life to overshadow the horrible events in Haiti.  Of course, I heard about it, have kept up with it a little and felt bad for them, but after seeing this, my heart has broken for the Haitians.  I absolutely can not imagine living in a state of chaos, which is what Haiti has turned into.

What also gets me is that it took a story glorifying Anderson Cooper to get my attention.  This was just one incident caught on tape and AC just happened to be standing near by, so I can't even image what all is going on that the cameras haven't captured.  You can follow AC's blog right here.

Happy Place, Happy Tape

3. Go somewhere I’ve never been. This was the one resolution I made last year and I actually accomplished it in January. I flew to New York City to meet up with my friend April and a few friends of hers. It’s definitely somewhere I’ll go again, making sure I stay long enough to have plenty of time to explore.  This year it's somewhere different though, somewhere I've never been.

I stumbled upon this today and it inspired me to be more creative.  Happy tape!  At first glance it was, of course, pretty tape and I thought it was cool, but then I thought, well, I never really need tape for anything.  Then I took a look at their blog and it had all kinds of different projects using happy tape, not to mention I'm a sucker for awesome packaging.

All Year Long Resolutions

When I think about the fact that we’re half way through January in the year twenty-ten, I get a little anxious. I was distracted the first of the year and didn’t even think about  making any resolutions. Now that I’ve had time to get back to myself, reflect and realize that right now is the time in my life to better it, I’ve started making my ::long:: list. I usually don’t make resolutions and boycott New Year’s celebrations and traditions all together, but this is a new decade, I’m making a fresh start and I’m excited about it! I hope to keep a continual list of resolutions all year, why just start over at the beginning? I’ve had the chance to start over in the middle quite often.

1.  Keep a journal. This is something I always did as a young girl and even now, every once in a while, I’ll write down a few thoughts or feelings. I love to go back years ago and read what was going on in my life and remember the happiness, or the pain, that I was going through and just seeing how big things felt at the time when they turned out to be so small. My mom even suggested this to me just this morning. “You’ve got to write this stuff down!” she told me. She said I have so much odd luck that there’s no way I’d be able to remember it all. She’s right, and believe me, I do not want to forget some of the weird things that have happened to me, been said to me or that I’ve even done myself.

2.  Dress and accessorize better.  Over the past few months, I've let my style go.  Now, I'm not saying I'm the most fashionable person, but lately I've not cared much at all, especially accessory wise.  I bought this at Charlotte Russe over the weekend and love it...until it starts turning my finger green:

Matt Morris

While perusing Perezhilton.com this morning (yeah, I know...) I saw a piece he had written about Matt Morris, an artist signed to Justin Timberlake's label, Tennman.  JT describes him as "Ray LaMontagne meets Elton John meets Stevie Wonder meets Rufus Wainwright.”  That got my attention, so I gave him a listen and he's pretty good.  His album just released Januray 12th and his MySpace is here.

About Christy:

Hi, I'm Christy, a serial blog reader who's decided to join those behind the words.  I look for all things pretty and anything that makes me think and gives me inspriation.

A bridge over the Tiber in Rome.  Couples lock a padlock on this lamppost and throw the key into the Tiber to keep their loved locked forever.  I'm usually not into all things lovey dovey, but I couldn't pass this up.
